Complete guide: how to care for your premium sneakers
Share
Why maintain your sneakers properly?
A pair of premium sneakers is an investment. Whether it's an Air Jordan, an Adidas Stan Smith, or a Puma Palermo, regular maintenance helps preserve their appearance, comfort, and value over time.
Cleaning by material
Leather and synthetic leather
Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove dust. Then apply a special leather cleaner in circular motions, and let air dry. Finish with a conditioner to nourish the leather and prevent cracks.
Mesh and textile
Remove the laces and insoles. Gently brush with a soft-bristled brush and a little mild soap diluted in lukewarm water. Rinse with a clean cloth and let dry away from any direct heat source.
Suede and nubuck
Suede is the most delicate material. Only use a dry suede brush to remove superficial dirt. For stains, a special suede eraser is your best ally. Absolutely avoid excessive water.
Soles
White soles yellow over time. To revive them, use a mixture of baking soda and white vinegar applied with an old toothbrush. Leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse.
Storage
Store your sneakers in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Use shoe trees to maintain the shape of the upper. Original boxes are ideal for long-term storage.
Mistakes to avoid
- Never put your sneakers in the washing machine (unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer)
- Avoid the dryer and direct heat sources
- Do not use harsh household products (bleach, acetone)
- Do not leave a wet pair to dry in the sun
